Shopping In Wigan & Beyond

WWO strongly advocate shopping locally above all else. We also support the independent and local living retailer above large chains.

However, we also understand that from Monday 15th that many further non essential shops will reopen for business. Here we provide a summary of what is happening in Wigan Town Centre. WWO will add additional information on Robin Park shortly. We will also provide opening information on Liverpool 1 and the Trafford Centre.

Please remember that train travel is for essential journeys only. Our aim is to let you know what is happening for shops that sell what you have not been able to buy during lockdown.

Thanks in advance for kindness and patience to shop staff as it is difficult to predict what conditions will be like. Above all, stay safe and enjoy the experience.

Wigan Town Centre Grand Arcade

We back up our unashamed bias to shop closer to home by starting with Wigan Town Centre.

Shoppers will be able to access the centre via the main entrance on Standishgate and Lanes entrance between Warriors World and The Body Shop. There will be hand sanitiser stations at both entrances to use when entering the centre.  All other entrances via Debenhams, Poundland and WH Smith will remain closed until further notice.

When you get there, government advice on social distancing will be in place. It includes;

  • Standing 2-metres apart when queuing,
  • Only use card payments
  • Use contactless where possible.

The centre has a 0ne-way system, requesting everyone to keep to the left. Directional poster guides and floor markers are marked around the centre. Escalators, lifts and stairs will be open. The public toilets, Customer Service Desk and open area seating will be closed until further notice.

Crompton Street car park will also remain closed, Millgate car park is open to use.

Finally, stores may restrict the number of shoppers with queuing areas outside each. The centre advises visitors to check with individual retailers on opening hours before travelling.
